Saints sign talented Texas scorer in Granados

Moberly, Mo.

Central Christian College of the Bible head men's basketball coach Jack Defreitas on Tuesday announced the signing of Jesse Granados for the 2017-18 season. Granados is the eighth member of the Saints' 2017 class.

Granados, a 6-1 shooting guard, is a 2017 graduate from Edcouch-Elsa High School in Edcouch, Texas. The four-year letterman and three-year starter for the Yellowjackets was one of the premier scorers in the Rio Grande Valley. He averaged 32 points, five rebounds and five assists per game as a senior, while helping his team to a 15-16 overall record and 9-5 record in District 32-5A.

This past March, Granados was named the District 32-5A Offensive Player of the Year and the Rio Grande Valley Basketball Coaches Association Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

"Jesse can flat out score the basketball," Defreitas said. "He had offers to other schools, but he felt like we were the best fit for him in a lot of areas. I'm extremely excited to get him here, and to help him grow on and off the court."

While at CCCB, Granados plans to pursue a Bachelor of Religious Studies and a dual enrollment degree from a partner institution.

Granados joins Jacob Case of McComb, Ohio, Micah Miller of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Alex Gibler of Madison, Mo., Kedron Rollings of Hayti, Mo., Wayne Alsberry of Stephens City, Va., Roy Patterson of McComb, Miss., and Josh Crawford of St. Louis, Mo., as members of the Saints' 2017 recruiting class.
